General:
"Water is Best" appears on a temperance
statue outside Bath Abbey. Water is, of course,
very important to Bath. The Soapwort plant may
be useful in Bath and the swings are usually found
in a park - Green Park Station was once one of
the principal stations in Bath. The fire is an
illustration of the text and the badgers are included
because the picture is set at night. The butterfly
is a tortoiseshell. The Theatre Royal in Bath
has a phantom butterfly which appears every year
backstage. The sad teddy bear refers to Burrows
Toy Museum which closed down during preparation
of the book. |
Key:
The roman numeral here is III (3) and the time
is clearly shown to be 11 o'clock at night. Therefore
the time is 23.00 hours. The 23rd word on the
page is "only" which should be put into
position 3 in the "key" message. |
Boy's
Name:
One of the things which should be given with a
smile is service. The navy is the Senior Service
so if the sailors are young, they cannot be senior,
just service. The answer to this clue is SERVICE. |
Article:
In Portsmouth we found the man who wrote about
Mars. A man who composed music about Mars (and
other planets) was Gustav Holst. If he is doing
the opposite to composing he must be decomposing!
Gustav Holst is buried in CHICHESTER. |
