General:
"Steaming Cider" refers to the Bulmers
Steam Centre at Hereford. Larry is Steve's nephew
- they were around the same age and used to go
train spotting together.
The plant is Pennywort - chosen to reflect the
money in the main picture. The loo is included
because of the pennies and also for the chain
(see below). The piggy bank also concerns the
money as do the wrens which used to appear on
farthings which disappeared in 1960.
The barrel is for the cider making industry around
Hereford and the daisies are just pretty. However,
they do form a chain and a Chained Library is
to be found in Hereford Cathedral. A special map
is also in Hereford Cathedral. It is called the
Mappa Mundi and shows the world (centred on Jerusalem)
as it was known in the late 13th century. The
globe was included for the same reason. (Incidentally,
after the book was published there was much controversy
over Hereford selling the Mappa Mundi - I don't
know if it is still in the Cathedral today) |
Key:
The roman numeral I (1) appears here. The only
time mentioned is a nine o'clock meeting at the
Odeon. The ninth word in the text is "I".
Put "I" into position 1 in the "key"
message. |
Boy's

Article:
At Wookey Hole, Madame Tussaud has a storehouse.
However, it is not just out-of-date royal heads
which are stored at Wookey so you must look for
another place which connects Madame Tussaud with
royalty. At WINDSOR there is a Madame Tussaud
exhibition at the station, showing Queen Victoria
in the Royal Waiting Room. The royals here are
certainly very still and definitely waiting. |
